What is your favourite business book and why?

Passion into Profit by Andy Harrington.

It is simply written and provides a blueprint for commercialising your knowledge and upscaling your small business so that you can earn more passive income.

Who is your business hero and why?

I am a big fan of Sir Richard Branson for a number of reasons.

He doesn't take himself too seriously and he really values his staff, hence the quote: "Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to."

As a business ambassador for Career Ready, I go into secondary schools and talk to students about the world of work and always use Sir Richard Branson as an example because he started his first business at 16 years of age.

Describe your business in a tweet.

Helping small business owners and salespeople sell better and sell more.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Mastering (or learning to outsource) additional skills - which you need as a small business owner.

What has been your greatest success?

Having my business featured on the Guardian website.

What piece of advice do you wish you had known when starting out?

You can't be in two places at once (or two networking events at once).

Why do you consider long-term strategic advice important to business success?

Strategy is crucial for any business which is why I encourage my clients to formulate a standalone strategic sales plan.

Having long-term strategic advice gives your business direction and keeps you informed of the bigger picture.

Not keeping up to speed with market conditions, technology and innovation means that your business will go backwards and you'll lose market share.

If you had a superpower what would it be and why?

To replicate myself. I am only a sole trader and want to keep it that way but quite often find myself wanting to be in more than one place (or event) at a time.
