Posted: Mon 11th Jul 2022

In this webinar, Daniel Bateman, partnerships and community manager at GS1 UK explains why GS1 UK barcodes are fundamental for your product-based business.

In his role, Daniel services the GS1 UK membership of 58,000 businesses, 85% of which are start-ups and SMEs. He provides support across a suite of activities, from exporting to Amazon selling to sustainability.

Key takeaways from this session:

  • Why you need a GS1 UK barcode compared with alternative options

  • Why barcodes are more than just black and white lines

  • How barcodes support your sales and marketing strategy

My careers started in marketing and advertising agencies where I spent 10+ years delivering campaigns for B2C brands such as Under Armour, Toyota, Mercedes, Walls Ice Cream, McVities and more. More recently I have held marketing roles at the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England & Wales, a smart home tech start-up, and now at GS1 UK. If you are planning to sell products online or in a store you will need a GS1 product identifier, otherwise known as a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), barcode, or EAN. Our GTINs and barcodes are used and accepted by instore retailers and online marketplaces across the world, making it easy to sell your products anywhere.  In addition, GS1 UK supports it’s members by developing partnerships with organisations that facilitate business growth.
