What is your favourite business book and why?

Secrets of Successful Sales by Alison Edgar for sure!

Just kidding! I would say How to start your business for £99 by Enterprise Nation founder Emma Jones and not just because I'm mentioned in it.

Who is your business hero and why?

My business heroes are Emma Jones and Jordan Daykin. Jordan has been a huge success, after being the youngest person ever to secure funding from one of the Dragons on BBC's Dragons' Den.

His business is now valued at over £20m. I've worked with him since he was 19 and It's been amazing watching him grow over the years.

Why did you start your business?

When I incorporated my business, there was government funding which helped subsidise coaching and training, but unfortunately this ceased at the end of 2015.

The lack of subsidy meant start-ups, micros and owner managed businesses struggled to afford consultancy rates.

As a result, we created The Entrepreneur's Godmother to work with them in groups to make it a more cost-effective way for them to learn.

What has been your greatest success?

My greatest success is between being crowned the UK's number one sales and marketing adviser by Enterprise Nation and a public vote, and writing my book, Secrets of Successful Sales.

As a dyslexic, writing my book was incredibly challenging. At times, my team had to theoretically tie me to a chair so I would write! It's been a huge success since its release, with 50 five star reviews, 50 days after release. I'm so proud!

What piece of advice do you wish you had known when starting out?

I wish I had known to invest more in a business coach at the start, and the main piece of advice is to patent everything you do. Yes, it can be costly, but it is worth it to make sure all of your fab ideas remain your own!

Why do you consider long-term strategic advice important to business success?

I would recommend taking more specialist advice at the start of the journey because the number of mistakes I made in the first few years around a structure, pricing, and recruitment was heartbreaking.

Had I known more, and invested more in a business coach at the start, I probably would have avoided the long-term problems and pains. It's hard to pinpoint specific advice, other than taking advice!

If you had a superpower what would it be and why?

I already have a superpower. I have the superpower of providing excellent sales training!

Other than that, I would have the power to communicate with anyone I want to quickly although it's getting that way with the power of LinkedIn.
