What is your favourite business book and why?

Aside from my own? :)

There are too many to mention, but the one that springs to mind right now is Raving Fans by Ken Blanchard because it changed my whole approach to client service with much improved results in my own business and has informed and directed my mentoring of many clients since.

Who is your business hero and why?

I don't have one. I admire many people in business and I admire many brands without knowing who the business mind is behind them. What I admire in business people is a strong vision and a desire to make a positive change in an industry as well as a commitment to keep going when things get tough.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Juggling my desire to have variety in terms of the clients I work with and the work I do as well as the products we offer and the need to niche in order to attract those clients. It's a constant challenge!

What has been your greatest success?

Building a business network which we took national in two years without any investment or previous experience. Leading this network and developing the infrastructure, including the team, processes, systems and training and having the opportunity to 'play' enabled me to develop the business I have and make the impact I make with other businesses today.

What piece of advice do you wish you had known when starting out?

That marketing is everything. You don't make a living doing what you do, you make a living marketing it.

Why do you consider long-term strategic advice important to business success?

Everything that is created without exception (cars, houses, packaging, programmes, models, businesses) is created twice: the first creation is in the mind. Strategy is to me is 'the big picture and the means of getting there'. Without this, there is no direction, no purpose and therefore, no focus. Strategic advise therefore is essential.

If you had a superpower what would it be and why?

I would have the ability to heal physical terminal illness.
