What is your favourite business book and why?
How To Win Friends and Influence People. It teaches you the importance of emotions and feelings as business is all about people. If we know how to treat people, business will take care of itself. This book helps to:
Get you out of a mental rut, give you new thoughts, new visions, new ambitions
Enable you to make friends quickly and easily
Increase your popularity
Help you to win people to your way of thinking
Increase your influence, your prestige, your ability to get things done
Who is your business hero and why?
Steve Jobs and for the sole reason that he believed in himself, his product and his passion to achieve what he actually did.
Describe your business in a tweet.
A qualified chartered accountant whose aim is to help, to give assistance and get people ready to realise their dreams.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge was to approach people, initiate the discussion, pitch my business as I have always been a desk junkie. The computer was my best friend and source of information but I realised, speaking to people, knowing their problems and resolving them is real life and real fun. I can speak to anyone on any topic and hardly sell my business as business takes care of itself. I just make friends.
What has been your greatest success?
Whenever I am able to resolve the client's problem be it a tax investigation, waiver of late filing fee, submission of yearly tax return or just helping them grow. Each one of these activities bring great joy and sense of achievement. My success is so linked to people who i offer assistance and support.
What piece of advice do you wish you had known when starting out?
Don't wait for it. If you have an idea to implement, do it. Time is short, life is short, success or failure hardly matters. What matters most is have you been able to do what you wanted to do?
Why do you consider long-term strategic advice important to business success?
Just as athletes understand the importance of monitoring vital signs, tracking progress and intentionally managing their bodies to optimise performance, high-performing business managers and owners also need to recognise that to optimise financial performance, the same level of measurement and analysis is required in their accounting.
If you had a superpower what would it be and why?
The ability to turn every thought into reality instantly.
