Want to make 2024 the year you use the media to do your marketing?

Plan

That's all it takes to get started. One page answering three questions:

  • What's the business message you want to put in front of 10,000 journalists?

  • Which publications would you like to see your business in?

  • What's coming up that you can use to capture the journalists' interest?

Routine

Put a one-hour slot in your diary for each month of the year, to cover the following:

  • The previous month's review

  • This month's opportunity

  • What's the action, and who's doing it by when

Review

Don't get obsessed with what media coverage you've won. Focus on:

  • which journalists showed an interest and follow them

  • what you could do to make the next news story more compelling

  • what impact it had on your web traffic

Your competitor targets

  • If you don't seize the media attention, which of your competitors will?

  • Make the focus for 2024 be your business being the one the journalists want to talk to
