How to make it into the top 10 of Fund101

Posted: Fri 9th Sep 2011
You may have seen to the right --> we've added a new widget profiling the top ten Fund101 applicants in order of the number of votes they've secured. Let's borrow some of their good practice and come up with a winning formula to secure votes and funding.
A picture tells a thousand words
It can't be a coincidence that all the businesses in the top ten have a picture in their profile. It brings the profile to life, shows off your logo or, in the case of Bumble and Castle Cupcake, some rather tasty looking treats!
Tell a story
Each of the 10 profiles have been written to offer a brief picture of the person applying, why they need the money, and how it will help the business. Place effort in perfecting your pitch so it draws people in and encourages the reader to place their vote with you. Answer some basic questions:
what does your business do
on what will you spend the money
how will this help the business grow
It's a nice touch to finish this off by including a link to your website if you have one.
Tell everyone!
One of the points standing the top ten apart is promotion of their profile. They have tweeted, facebook-ed and shared their profile with friends, family and across websites, inviting votes. Promote your application and people will vote for you. Whilst doing so, your business is getting known and you could be picking up orders too! The Enterprise Nation team is playing its part to help you with votes. Next week we'll be sending out communications asking small business owners to vote for you and launching a competition to offer StartUp Kit prize give-aways to voters. Good luck in your applications and good luck to our top ten who will hopefully soon be receiving some cash!
