Grandstanding CBI and IOD are playing the wrong game

Following a degree in Law and Japanese, Emma joined international accounting firm Arthur Andersen, where she worked in London, Leeds and Manchester offices and set up the firm's Inward Investment practice that attracted overseas companies to locate in the UK. 



In 2000, bitten by the dot.com bug, Emma left the firm to start her first business, Techlocate. 

After 15 months, the company was successfully sold to Tenon plc. The experience of starting, growing and selling a business from a home base gave Emma the idea for Enterprise Nation which was launched in 2006 as the home business website. The company has since expanded to become a small business membership community of over 75,000 people who benefit from events and support: online and in person. Enterprise Nation also presents a campaigning voice to government and the media on behalf of its members. 

In 2021, Emma was awarded a CBE for services to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

After a sturdy spring clean, the Enterprise Nation platform is set for a new look.

As Enterprise Nation's small business community manager, my role is to guide our members through every stage of their user journey, developing and improving their experience within the Enterprise Nation community, and arming them with the knowledge and resources they need to start and grow their business.&nbsp;&nbsp;

I have over 20 years of experience working in customer and B2B support. Having also managed a small business for many years, I understand the struggles that they face am passionate about helping them grow. I love to hear member success stories, particularly those in the food and drink sector.&nbsp;

If you're looking for someone whose created trust and value through their support of a client's business like yours, someone whose time will be self-funded by the improvements you'll benefit from, then you'll want to be inspired not by what I say here, but what those clients have said about me. Prior to 2003 I was National Sales Manager and Sales & Marketing Director within two private and publicly owned businesses. In 2010 I became a full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), received Chartered status and joined the Levitt Group for senior marketers the same year. In April 2020 I became a Fellow (FCIM) of the Chartered Institute. 

Enterprise Nation and the Chartered Institute of Marketing invited me to help support members like you through the accredited Growth Voucher scheme. This work saw me recognised by those clients who had benefitted from my support and in 2015 I was honoured and confirmed as 'One of Britain's Top 50 Small Business Advisors'.

I have worked with Royal Warrant holding businesses allied to the construction industry in manufacturing, wholesale and associated services, whilst also working with non-Warrant holding companies in the retail and leisure sectors, joining the board as a non-executive director and supporting the management and shareholders of one of these companies. Recently I've joined a London based Financial Services Group as an Ambassador to help bring financial support business and business advice for those aiming at a rapid growth and lucrative sale. 

Outside of my paid roles I act as a Non-Executive Director in a pro-bono capacity for several schools in the midlands and provide on-going support for the national executive body, Career Ready delivering career support for students aged between 16-18 years.
