Fund101: Amazing scenes!

Posted: Mon 27th Feb 2012
The response to the second wave of Fund101 has been almost overwhelming. We've added around 500 new applications in the last week or two and we're awash with comments, votes, queries and messages of support. Obviously, we're doing our best to keep up and we hope we don't leave anyone hanging on for too long while we respond.
Every time I look at the applicants, I'm amazed by the sheer range of businesses we have applying for a small sum of money to give their ambitions a boost. We have bakers by the dozen, filmmakers and photographers, woodcrafters, jewellery makers, sports coaches, clothes designers, musicians, therapists of all stripes, educationalists, recruiters, pet carers - oh, and did I mention the cake businesses? Fund101 offers us a window on the world of small enterprise and gives a little weight to my theory that we're seeing a revival of cottage industries in the UK. It's very inspiring that so many 'free rangers' are wanting to go independent and run their own small enterprise - and we're behind you all the way.
Take a look around...
If you're a Fund101 applicant, please take some time to browse the site and check out our tips and resources to help you with your business. Please also get involved in our community, where we have some lively discussions in the forum, on Twitter, on Facebook and on YouTube, where you can see me looking stilted on camera and swap video messages with San, our community manager. We love to chat and to help out where we can - and so do many of our other community members. If you're not a Fund101 applicant, but you've registered with the site just to cast a vote - thank you. We're not going to spam you with stuff, but we'd really appreciate it if you stay and take a look around. Maybe we can inspire you to start a business, too?
