3 steps to securing votes for Fund101

Posted: Tue 6th Sep 2011
Yesterday we launched Fund101 and, 62 applications later, it's off to a strong start. Now it's time to secure votes so payment can be made to put your ideas and plans into action. Plans such as 360 Artist Development who need £453 to purchase a sound card that's expected to double productivity or Rock Bakehouse who need an oven so the specialist cake making business can expand. There are 60 others like this; great ideas or businesses with plans for expansion. To get there, a little capital is required and this month, with support from fund partners Intuit and PayPal, we'll be giving £5,000 to applicants who meet voting targets.
As easy as 1,2,3
So, fund applicants, here's a 3 step process to ensure you hit your target number of votes and payment. 1. Picture So voters can get a feel for you and your business, upload a picture or logo to bring your application to life. You can do this by clicking 'change avatar' in your profile. 2. Profile Think of your profile as a mini business pitch. Tell us about you and your business, why you are looking for the money, and how it will help the business start or grow ie give me a complete picture in a few words. Good examples of this are My Wedding Genie and Junk Junk. At the end of the profile consider linking to your website, if you have one, so potential voters can click to find out more about you. 3. Promote Now it's time to have some fun! Promote your application so people know to vote for you. Make the most of social sharing to tweet about your application, share on Facebook etc and encourage your networks do the same. Talent House East Midlands has started work on this as has Troll Inc. You could include a link to your application page in an email sign-off, on business cards, promotion materials, on your website or mention it to people you meet. Promoting your application will improve skills in marketing and social media so it's all good for business. With the picture uploaded, profile complete and promotion underway, the final step will be getting paid. We hope as many of you as possible will be reaching that payment point soon!
