Barking and Dagenham: Apprenticeship support for employers

Barking and Dagenham: Apprenticeship support for employers

Apprenticeships offer a way to both attract new talent and develop existing staff – enabling people to access good jobs and progression opportunities while helping employers to create a loyal workforce that meets their skills and business needs.

That’s why the council has pledged to transfer £100,000 a year from its own levy funding to support more employers to offer high-quality apprenticeships. Organisations offering apprenticeships to Barking and Dagenham residents can apply to have their training costs fully funded through the scheme.

To ensure employers have the support they need to do this, the council has partnered with the London Progression Collaboration (LPC), a charitable organisation that helps businesses access funding to cover training costs and provides free one-to-one support to help them get apprenticeships up and running.

How to apply

To access this funding and support, please complete the LPC form.

To find out more info about the London Progression Collaboration, email info@thelpc.uk. For enquiries to the council about the scheme, email businessforum@lbbd.gob.uk.

To see a list of the apprenticeship courses available through the borough’s main local education and training providers, view the prospectus.

Eligibility requirements

Please note that the scheme is only available for those offering opportunities to borough residents. Applications will not be considered from Apprenticeship Training Agencies.

It is available to non-levy paying employers, offering quality apprenticeships with good wages and progression opportunities. Levy-paying organisations that have used up their levy entitlements may also apply.
