I am a business mentor with a passion for people and business. I am a member of the Association of Business mentors and currently work with Brunel Business School as a mentor.
I have held leadership and management positions within SMEs for all of my working life and therefore have a &quot;lived experience&quot; of the challanges of growing a business.
I ran my own business for 12 years, which I sold in 2017, remaining as a consultant to the new owners until late 2018. During my time as Managing Director and owner I received leadership and management training for growth under the Growth Accelerator scheme (match funded by the Government). I put this training into practice and at the time of sale, the company had more than doubled its turnover; with no borrowings, a highly skilled and experienced team (who shared the same behaviours, values and goals) and direct work with major banking institutions.
The company also won the Innovation 50 Award from Essex County Council and Anglian University for being one of the most innovative and fastest growing SME in Essex.
I have a financial background which helped me steer the company through challenging times, notably the banking crisis, by planning, budgeting, maintaining a core team and working within our own capital.
I recognise the business would have been nothing without the people and my most important role was that of coach and mentor to my own staff.
