Lunch and Learn: Successful tips for hiring apprentices

Posted: Mon 5th Feb 2024

Did you know that the government funds between 95 to 100% of apprentice training costs for small businesses?

What’s more, in the Autumn Statement the government pledged to boost apprenticeship training in sectors that contribute to economic growth, investing £50 million in a two-year pilot starting in spring 2024.

Although apprenticeships can help build your team from the ground up, it can be a minefield to access funding and understand the different apprenticeship standards and recruiting.

In this Lunch and Learn, Katy Wade uncovers the expenses associated with bringing an apprentice on board, including the funding options available. She shares practical strategies on where and how to discover your ideal apprentice, turning recruitment into a seamless and successful process.

Katy is a learning and development manager at Bespoke HR. A fully qualified CIPD professional, Katy has over 20 years of experience working mainly in the hospitality industry. She has extensive experience in apprenticeships, having established and managed Wetherspoon's apprenticeship scheme.

Key takeaways from this session:

  • Discover the cost of hiring an apprentice (including the funding available)

  • Find out the legalities of hiring an apprentice and making sure your business is protected

  • Learn how and where to find your new apprentice
