Former prime minister David Cameron has returned to government after being appointed as the new foreign secretary by Rishi Sunak.
His new role came about following the sacking of home secretary Suella Braverman over comments she made about the Metropolitan Police in an article in The Times.
Former foreign secretary James Cleverly has replaced Braverman in the Home Office with Cameron taking over his previous role.
Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation, said:
‘David Cameron's appointment as foreign secretary is a positive step for Britain's global standing, and demonstrates the government's commitment to boosting international trade.
"When he was prime minister, I saw at first-hand David Cameron's ability to promote the UK on the global stage during a trade trip to China in 2013. He began speeches introducing himself as the 'salesman-in-chief for Britain' and a decade later, this is exactly what's required.
"Let's get back on ambitious trade trips and sell Britain to the world."
In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, David Cameron, who has been appointed as a Lord, said:
"Britain is a truly international country. Our people live all over the world and our businesses trade in every corner of the globe. Working to help ensure stability and security on the global stage is both essential and squarely in our national interest. International security is vital for our domestic security.
