Most cities and regions have robust startup eco-systems. Today, the international focus is pivoting to create complementary scaleup eco-systems for middle market companies. It is successful startups that scaleup which drive economies.

In London and elsewhere, there are several programs designed to help startup companies. However, for companies that have passed the startup phase, the options are very limited – particularly for middle market high potential firms with revenues between £5 million and £50 million. Yet it is these firms have the best chance to scale to £100 million and beyond, contributing significant growth to the local economy.

Identifying, educating, supporting, and honoring these companies – like the city does its startups and large established firms – is the essence of the Scaling Up Masters Program

The Scaling Up Masters Program Initiative is highly selective in identifying a limited number of high potential “gazelles” and focusing resources and efforts to help them significantly scaleup their businesses. The initiative will provide outstanding educational and coaching resources with the goal of generating significant wealth for the companies and the local community which suggests that both contribute to the initiative.

The program is a proven 12-month Fast Track education, coaching and technology-supported process to address four key aspects of scaling a business:

People: Does the firm have the right leadership team, advisors, partners, and access to sufficient talent to scaleup the business?

Strategy: Is there a compelling differentiated advantage over the competition to guarantee continued strong margins and revenue growth?

Execution: Are growing revenues accompanied by stronger profit margins as the business enjoys increased economies of scale as the company expands?

Cash: Does the business model provide sufficient cash flow to fuel its own growth and provide excess funds to take advantage of opportunities that surface and to weather the unexpected?
