About Me
I’m the co-founder of Planet Buu, a UK-based emotional wellbeing platform for children navigating sadness, sensory overload, and shutdowns. Our tools are clinically informed, story-led, and emotionally quiet — designed to help children feel seen, not fixed.
The idea grew from personal experience: I’m a parent to a sensitive, likely neurodivergent daughter, and I wanted to create the kind of emotional support I wish I’d had as a child — and the kind we needed as a family. My background spans psychology, executive search, and psychometric consulting. I’ve spent 20+ years helping organisations understand people. Now, I’m using that same lens to build something that helps children feel heard.
I co-created Planet Buu with my wife, Yulia Hartshorn — a qualified teacher-logopedist with a degree in practical psychology and formal clinical training across neuropsychology, speech and language development, and special educational needs. She’s worked directly with children across autism, ADHD, and complex emotional needs, and brings the clinical integrity to everything we make. Her content avoids therapeutic cliché and focuses instead on emotional truth — quiet, non-performative, and grounded in co-regulation.
Together, we’ve created a story-led emotional toolkit that includes illustrated books, huggable characters, and a monthly membership that expands the world of Planet Buu. It’s been designed with both parent and child in mind — especially for families navigating SEN/ADHD traits, shutdowns, or emotional difficulty. All our characters, words, and visuals are carefully crafted to support emotional processing in the moments where words fall short.
We’re SEIS-eligible, bootstrapped, and preparing to launch via Kickstarter in June 2025. Longer term, we see Planet Buu as a scalable emotional support platform, with applications across education, parenting, and early intervention.
My parallel work continues through The Talent Navigator, a consulting practice offering strategic hiring support, capability diagnostics, and psychometric x-rays for leadership teams. I’m BPS-accredited, trained in Saville Assessments A/B and work across sectors including tech, telecoms, industrial, and healthcare.
We’re now looking to connect with early investors, advocates, and mission-aligned partners — people who understand the link between childhood emotional safety and long-term human potential.
