More than 40 years in business I have run my own businesses for close to 25 years of that time.
I started my working life in technical services with a North Eastern electro-mechanical engineering business. The business had a strong export profile and as part of the team that introduced the first electronic Jacquard to the textile industry, I travelled the world installing and servicing this ground breaking machinery.
This role led onto technical services management and then onto R &amp; D test management. This combined experience married with my past field experience lend me into quality assurance and work with quality management systems and ISO standards.&nbsp;
I left this business for a role in supplier and supply chain development in an industrial consultancy, then part of the University of Sunderland.
At the turn of the century I set up a business to develop software to support quality assurance standards implementation. This developed into a more general technical services business covering network installation and database administration in addition to software and web development.&nbsp;
This business was sold in 2005 and I then set up another business more directly focused on web development, software development and associated internet services.
This business is still operating and has, in turn, led to involvement in several other commercial ventures in construction, engineering management, software development, vulnerable citizen support and NHS/GP services.
Over the last year I have moved back to industrial and commercial support with a small and medium sized business focus. In parallel with this I still maintain my interest in the internet and software business, but my consultancy work is now my primary focus.
