Gemma has over 18 years’ industry experience working for award winning agencies including Acacia Avenue and Tangible Branding, then with her own agency: Podengo.  As a skilled Qualitative Research and Brand Strategist Gemma has worked with small challenger brands to large blue-chip companies, both in the UK and internationally. Regularly working across categories which include FMCG, fashion, beauty, food and drink, retail, media and technology.
I’m a qualitative researcher, a market researcher and have been for the last 16 years.  Put simply, it means that I find out what people think, feel and believe through the wonderful art of conversation. I’ve spent tens of thousands of hours listening to people and discussing them with how they think, feel and do. There aren't many topics I haven’t covered in research from food and drink to charities and finances, even public policy, and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to sit and listen to a broad and diverse range of people, from all walks of life. It’s been a gift.
Market research is one of the ways that businesses and organisations, whether small or large, get to connect with the people who matter: the humans who do, or could support them. And at its very heart, market research is about understanding people. A skill that we need more of, not less.
