Innovating for Growth: Start-ups will give you the insight, skills and support to start and grow your business with our free 12 hour interactive online workshop programme.

You’ll cover topics that include raising finance, how to protect your business idea, putting together an effective business plan, plus need to know tips to keep on top of the numbers. You’ll also get to meet other like-minded entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and gain support.

Once you've completed the programme, you'll be awarded a personalised Innovating for Growth: Start-ups certificate.

The course is divided into two parts with the following modules to complete online:

Part 1

A set of one hour webinars that will equip you to start (your entrepreneurial journey) from a solid proposition through reviewing, testing and securing your business idea.

Researching and testing your business idea

These webinars will show you how to research your market and competitors, what resources you can use and to how to test your product or service before you invest more funds or time on elaborate business plans.

Protecting your business idea

Don’t let someone pinch your idea or make money from your hard work. These workshops will help you understand how to make your business more profitable through protecting and exploiting your intellectual property, including your brand and your product or service. A vital but often overlooked area.

Part 2

Get Started

Everything you need to know to make it happen. You have researched, tested and secured your business idea... what’s next?

This workshop delivered over two three hour interactive and practical webinars, which cover everything you need to know to put your start-up on a firm footing. Topics include effective business planning, financing your business, must-know marketing and lots of practical tips and pointers that will save you and your business time and money. You will be provided with a toolkit in advance to use during the session and you will be encouraged to do exercises applied to your business. There will be plenty of time for feedback and questions.

To take part you should be a London-based business and:

  • the owner of a business which is not trading.
  • registered at Companies House for less than 12 months.
  • an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop.
