Problem

Having successfully secured funding through UKSPF to deliver a business support project in Plymouth, Plymouth City Council wanted the delivery of an Enterprise Hub, a co-branded small business support platform providing small businesses, within Plymouth City Council’s networks, to access support, content, and training programmes via its delivery partners, as well as any national campaigns.

Solution

Enterprise Nation, in partnership with Plymouth City Council, will develop a locally branded Enterprise Hub, a light-lift digital platform solution that offers any small business, or pre-start entrepreneur with a single-point-of-access to the support services available locally, regionally, and nationally, including through the nationwide campaigns delivered by Enterprise Nation.

The co-branded Enterprise Hub will be launched in August 2024, and accessible for local businesses until (at least) 31 March 2025.

Project Results & Feedback

Having procured and contracted a range of business support projects, we wanted to broaden and package up the support with a platform that could act as a front door for businesses at a range stages of operation to engage with.

We had heard and engaged with Enterprise Nation before and had heard great things about the services that they offer.

From initial conversations with the Enterprise Nation team, we found that the services and format that they could offer PCC in terms of this front door/one stop shop for business support was really good and something that was missing from the mix of business support projects that we had already contracted to deliver.

We especially liked that the platform could open up doors and provide support to businesses on their own terms and timings, highlighting and making support accessible via mechanisms like the Heart of South West Growth Hub.

Yes, the reports provided by you (Enterprise Nation) for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme that shows the types and profile of businesses coming through the platform are really useful and shows that platforms like this can really encourage and reach more people to look for support on a wider footprint, differently to what we might do.

This is potentially too early to answer at this stage, but as stated above we have started to see some really interesting insights provided by the reports.
