This Girl Ran by Helen Croydon.

I met up with Helen recently in London and so have a connection with the author and her story.

Who is your business hero and why?

Luke Johnson who helped make Pizza Express successful. It's still my favourite pizza restaurant.

Luke talks a lot of business sense and a net worth of £220m.

Describe your business in a tweet.

Helping businesses with people management and development challenges to support business strategy and the bottom line.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To put the word out there about human capital department.

What has been your greatest success?

The award of a national contract for Human Capital Due Diligence.

What piece of advice do you wish you had known when starting out?

Think carefully when choosing your suppliers and partners and don't rely on a single personal recommendation as it might not be unbiased.

Why do you consider long-term strategic advice important to business success?

Unless you just want to be a sole trader It is important to think strategically about how to grow the business and also how to exit.

If you had a superpower what would it be and why?

To be all seeing and all hearing. To monitor everyone's actions and behaviours within my business and to be able to intervene if they take the wrong path or make a poor decision.

How has Enterprise Naton membership helped your business?

Enterprise Nation Membership has worked for me recently in that I had an opportunity to join the Dubai trade mission where I picked up a couple of enquires for work to deliver short training courses in Dubai and Kuwait and also a trip up to 10 Downing Street to discuss issues faced by small businesses with an adviser to PM.
