I'm a freelance content creator and event host who helps small businesses and the organisations that support them. I'm also Enterprise Nation's Local Leader for Bristol.
I have 19 years of experience as a small business journalist having interviewed hundreds of entrepreneurs from billionaires like Sir Richard Branson to the founders behind brand new start-ups.
I've worked for a range of leading small business publications and support groups, most recently as head of content at Enterprise Nation where I was responsible for the prolific output of content on the company's blog and social media. I now freelance for Enterprise Nation including hosting the Small Business sessions podcast.
I'm based in Bristol where I run and host regular events with the local small business community in my role as Enterprise Nation's Local Leader for Bristol. I also have strong connections with other major business organisations in the south west region.
In total, I've hosted over 100 events including conferences with an audience of hundreds for international brands like Xero and Facebook and live web chats from inside 10 Downing Street.
With my partner, I co-run Lifestyle District, a lifestyle blog focused on culture, art, theatre and photography.

I am a lawyer who has worked in-house as well as run my own specialist intellectual property law firm for more than 15 years. I specialise in brands and trade marks, and this led to a deep interest in branding and a mini MBA from Marketing Week/Mark Ritson in brand management. As such I have a holistic view of branding as it includes intellectual property which is not a topic that marketers, designers and others involved in branding are trained in currently, even though it is intrinsic to how brand identifiers like names, logos, symbols, packaging, colours can be legally owned. The best time to consult with me is before you create your brand designs because what is appropriate to create is impacted by IP law. I have written a new book Brand Tuned which will be released on 28 September 2021 which explain all this more. We review your company and identify its IP assets and risks and opportunities as regards IP. Such an audit helps to rectify any defects in IP, such as by doing searches and registering rights. It includes an assessments of a company’s key legal agreements, and advice on how to shore up any gaps.
