Ready to catch up on the latest social media updates?

From AI-powered ad tools to big shifts in video strategy, the platforms have been busy! Whether you’re managing a brand account, creating content, or simply trying to keep up, staying informed is essential. And that’s exactly what this round-up is here for.

We’ve brought together the most important updates, so you can spend less time scrolling and more time planning. Let’s dive in.

Facebook

We’re kicking off with Facebook and it has introduced a new wave of AI-powered advertising features. The ability to transform static images into fully animated video clips! These AI-generated videos will even include text overlays and music, giving advertisers a simple way to create eye-catching, thumb-stopping creatives.

Facebook is also simplifying its video experience by merging all uploaded videos into the Reels format. From now on, when you post a video (excluding livestreams), Instagram will automatically publish it as a Reel, no extra steps are needed. Live videos will continue to follow their own workflow and won’t be classified as Reels.

If your Facebook group was suddenly suspended recently, then you’re not the only one. Thousands of groups were unexpectedly banned, with many suspecting overzealous AI moderation being to blame.
Facebook has since confirmed the issue was caused by a technical error and it’s working to restore affected groups. Group admins are now being notified, but the glitch highlights the ongoing challenges of automated enforcement at scale.

TikTok

On to TikTok now and it has announced new additions to its Symphony AI suite. These updates have been designed to help brands create TikTok-ready content at scale. The new Image to Video tool transforms static photos into five-second clips. While Text to Video generates visuals from simple prompts.

Another feature to mention is Showcase Products. This introduces digital avatars that display items, model outfits, or demonstrate apps! This update brings a fresh layer of creativity to branded content on the platform.

It’s a new partnership for TikTok next! It has teamed up with sustainability data firm, Scope3, to offer advertisers a new way to track the carbon footprint of their campaigns. Brands will receive emissions data based on factors like ad reach and targeting, helping them better understand environmental impact. The goal of this update is to support advertisers in making more sustainable choices.

TikTok has launched a new set of self-care tools aimed at giving users greater control over their content experience. This includes enhanced feed controls and safety features as part of a wider push for user wellbeing. Manage Topics lets users customise how often they see content, making it easier to tailor the For You feed.

CapCut

We don’t really ever include CapCut in our social media updates, but we just had to include this one and it's one you need to take notice of!

The video editing app, widely used for creating TikToks and Reels, has quietly updated its terms of service and these changes are raising red flags.

Content uploaded grants CapCut and partners a royalty-free licence to use, modify and distribute the material. Users will not receive notice or compensation. Crucially, all uploads are classed as non-confidential. For creators, journalists and brands, it’s a reminder to review where and how you’re editing your content. With this in mind, it’s worth thinking about getting a new editing app!

Edits

Back to it now and Meta has officially released its new Restyle feature. An AI-powered video editing tool is now available in both Meta AI and Instagram’s Edits app. With this update, users can completely transform the look and feel of their video clips using themed AI filters. This new tool uses AI to reinterpret your footage and bring fresh, stylised effects to your content.

Instagram has rolled out the much-requested teleprompter feature. This update includes new overlays and improved insights, making it easier for users to script, film and polish their content. The teleprompter allows creators to read their script while recording, helping them stay on message without breaking the flow. Just tap the record button in Edits to give it a try.

Instagram

Over to Instagram and it has launched two new features aimed at helping creators stay informed and motivated: Recaps and Celebrations.

Recaps offers an at-a-glance summary of key performance insights, while Celebrations highlight major milestones and achievements within the app. Designed to offer both encouragement and practical data, these updates are part of Instagram’s wider effort to support creators on their growth journey.

Instagram is also encouraging more creators to experiment with Trial Reels, a feature that’s been in testing for the past six months. Trial Reels are shown to a select group of non-followers, offering an early look at how a Reel might perform before it’s widely distributed. It’s a low-risk way to test content and optimise for reach.

Pinterest

Just the single social media update from Pinterest this month and it is introducing new AI-powered display and discovery features to help marketers surface the right products at the right time.

Leading the update is an AI collage generation tool, which automatically groups your products into themed collections based on user engagement. With over 570 million discovery-driven users now on the platform, this update offers a fresh way to align with trending interests and inspires action.

LinkedIn

As video continues to grow on LinkedIn, the platform is introducing new ad formats to help brands stand out, starting with First Impression Ads. This full-screen, vertical video format is designed for single-day campaigns and guarantees your ad is the first seen by your target audience that day. It's also expanding its CTV (Connected TV) ad capabilities, giving advertisers more ways to deliver video content across channels with impact.

Next, LinkedIn has teamed up with Adobe Express to make video ad creation faster and easier, especially for B2B marketers and small businesses. The new integration allows users to design LinkedIn-optimised video templates within Adobe Express and export them directly to Campaign Manager. With built-in AI tools, seamless workflows and access to Adobe Stock, this update streamlines video production and helps marketers launch high-impact content without the heavy lifting.

To support its growing emphasis on video, LinkedIn is rolling out the ability to add video cover headers to both articles and newsletters. Instead of just a static image, users will soon be able to upload a video to the header section, bringing a more dynamic and engaging visual cue to long-form content. The feature is gradually being rolled out to all members and could be a great way to boost visibility and stand out in the feed.

YouTube

The last couple of updates now and we’re onto YouTube! YouTube is rolling out a new wave of updates including wider access to its auto-dubbing tool. But it's not stopping there, as it's launching its Dream Screen feature in the UK. Verified creators can now use YouTube’s enhanced language translation tools to automatically dub videos into multiple languages, broadening their reach with less effort.

These updates are part of YouTube’s continued push to support creators with AI-powered tools which will simplify content production and boost discoverability.

YouTube is refreshing its Advanced Analytics Mode via its YouTube Studio with a cleaner interface and improved navigation, making it easier for creators of all levels to explore performance data. The new left-hand sidebar allows for more granular filtering across metrics like geography, content type and revenue source. Creators can also now sort videos by attributes such as title, length and publish date, streamlining the way insights are accessed and applied.

That's a wrap on this month’s social media updates!

June may have felt a bit quieter than usual on the surface, but even the more subtle shifts can have a big impact on your strategy if you’re not keeping tabs. With platforms rolling out updates at different paces, it can be tough to know what really matters (which is exactly why we put these roundups together).

Until next time, stay social!
