The Sustainable Small Business Awards have now closed for entries.

At Enterprise Nation, we love to recognise small businesses across the UK that are making a conscious effort to be sustainable. We're launching our 

 to champion the achievements of our nation's small businesses.

Nominations are open until 11:59pm (UK time) on Wednesday 3 August 2022, so you have plenty of time to put forward any business you believe has taken commendable steps to improve its sustainability.

, our programme to help owners of small and medium-sized businesses develop a better understanding of environmental and social issues in the UK. We're on the hunt to find those small businesses that are making a difference.

The Sustainable Small Business Awards include the following five categories:

The awards are a great opportunity for small businesses to receive recognition for making a conscious effort to be sustainable, and stand out from their competitors.

Enterprise Nation will spotlight shortlisted entries through its website, social media and case studies. Winners will receive £5,000 worth of sustainability consultancy advice from 

 as well as their own Sustainable Small Business Award.

After entries close on Wednesday 3 August 2022, there will be a period of shortlisting. We'll announce the winners the week commencing

I am a Bristol-based entrepreneur with over seven years of experience in content curation, digital strategy, Instagram marketing, and native advertising. Beyond this, my expertise extends into project management, creative development, media relations, and brand strategy. On the side, I&apos;ve been running my own businesses for years and recently purchased Shroot. In November 2022, I acquired Shroot after it acquired a £20k loss over two years. We&apos;ve since collaborated with Vodafone on three campaigns for Mother&apos;s Day, Father&apos;s Day and Christmas, moving over 25k units and have established our presence in over 180 stockists throughout the UK. My passion lies in identifying potential in failing businesses within the eco-friendly and sustainable market. My skills lie in rejuvenating these enterprises, restructuring them for efficiency, refining their supply chains, and employing guerilla marketing to underscore their sustainability, ultimately steering them towards profitability. In my day job, I thrive as a Project Manager, expertly coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring seamless project execution. I have a keen eye for detail, matched with an ability to envision the big picture.

So what&apos;s my story...?
My start in entrepreneurship came about as a leap of faith, I went into the unknown after being made redundant. The world had just gone into lockdown, I had no job or hope of getting one. I was at ground zero. I had nothing to lose at this point. But I knew I had a strong business acumen that was yet to be explored plus my operational and management background that would see me through the journey. So I boldly stepped out into the world of entrepreneurship, however, what was before me I could have never predicted. I had no support, I found that lacked practical experience in the startup world. My entrepreneurial journey was characterised by the pain of making costly mistakes, a constant fear of failure, and loneliness. Until I started working in a startup studio with a team of super-smart founders, techies, creatives, and investors. I learned how to build businesses the right way with the right support. I have now taken the learnings of building ventures and adapted them to help people who have ideas they want to turn into businesses, and people already in business and want to build and scale the right way. I use venture-building methodologies that I have adapted to build and turn any type of concept into a scaleable business with a lasting legacy.&nbsp;
The reason why I do this is because I believe that ideas should not be wasted and the founder&apos;s journey is paramount to building well and building successful businesses that last. I want to help founders &quot;build-right first-time&quot; with support and stop accepting loneliness, stress and burnout as a norm. Using proven frameworks and my startup experience, I help founders avoid the common pitfalls that lead to failure. I understand that building businesses is daunting and one of the most challenging careers to have, but I know it does not have to be a painful experience or a lonely journey. Bringing your idea to life and growing a business should be a fulfilling journey, it should be an exhilarating experience of learning, building relationships and collaborating, stretching your abilities, and developing your resilience.
