"Society is demanding of entrepreneurs to solve the world's problems. Good entrepreneurs will recognise that and make their purpose a big part of their business."
That's the claim of Murad Al-Katib, president and CEO of AGT Food and Ingredients, who was recently named EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 after being selected from 59 winners in 49 countries competing for the title.
Al-Katib started AGT Food and Ingredients in 2003 and it has since grown into the world's largest vertically integrated supply chain for lentils, chickpeas and peas.
The Canada-based business has revenues of $1.49bn, with more than 2,000 employees on five continents. It exports around 23% of the world trade in lentils to more than 120 countries.
