This month’s Cork meet-up online event on Thursday 22nd September 2022 will be host to a ‘credit control in your business’ presentation by Enterprise Nation member Paul Murphy.
Paul is operations director at GroForth, a virtual outsourced finance department company, and also founder of VBC – Virtual Business Collaboration.
This is the first time the meet-up event will play host to a member presentation but it’s a theme local leader Tara Elzingre would like to see continue.
We caught up with Tara to see how her meet-up events have been going.
Are the meet-up events currently online or offline?
I haven't done one in person yet and I probably won’t until January. I just had a baby boy there in June, he is my third baby, so I'm doing a bit of work, but obviously at the moment, I prefer reduced hours.
How is your business Parene going?
This is my first time I’ve had a baby as a business owner. With my two older kids I was able to take a year’s maternity leave with the company I was working with, even if it was half unpaid.
Whereas now, as a small business owner, I’m very conscious of the fact that i need to keep something going, I just work on a very reduced schedule at the moment, but I like it. I like the fact that I have something to focus on outside of being a mum.
You are starting presentations at your meet-ups, what can people expect?
I got some feedback from the small businesses, if they’re new, they want to talk about their business with people. Paul is going to do a 15 minute presentation on credit control in your business. I’ll give people time to discuss their businesses and services and we’ll also have a Q&A.
I’m expecting this to be a bigger event as it’s the first one after the summer.
What kind of businesses have attended your events so far?
We’ve had photographers, coaches, consultants and investors. We’ve had people who are interested in crafts, people who have made their own beauty lines - there's been quite a range.
