New Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has appointed her shadow Cabinet, with Andrew Griffth becoming shadow business and trade secretary.
Badenoch was announced as leader after she won the final round of a ballot of party members to replace Rishi Sunak. She defeated Robert Jenrick by 12,418 votes.
Griffith replaces Kevin Hollinrake, the former shadow business secretary who was small business minister when the Conservatives were in government. Hollinrake is now shadow housing secretary.
Griffth had various roles in the former government including science research and innovation minister, director of the Number 10 policy unit, and economic secretary to the Treasury. Before becoming an MP in 2019, he was the chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Sky, as well as chairman of Just Eat.
Other business-related appointments in Badenoch's new Cabinet are Mel Stride as shadow chancellor, Stuart Andrew as shadow culture secretary and Alan Mak as shadow science, innovation and technology secretary.
Among Badenoch's junior minister appointments are Harriet Baldwin, who has become a shadow minister for the Department of Business and Trade.
