Develop your business with a mentor

As part of the Help to Grow: Management Course, you have access to 10 hours of one-to-one support with a business mentor who has a good understanding of the role of the mentor and the course.

How does it work?

Register and fill in your business details. Share information about where you need support in the business and where you're based.

Step 2 - Choose a mentor

Based on the information you provide, you'll be matched with recommended mentors who suit your business needs.

Step 3 - Request a mentorship

Connect with your mentor and they will guide you through the area of business you're working to improve.

The mentors signed up to Help to Grow: Management are business experts who either work in a small business at a senior level or have worked with small businesses for over five years. You’ll be matched to a mentor based on your region, skills and sector.

The mentor will guide you through your action plan. You’ll complete the items and tasks in the plan over 12 weeks.

After registering, you’ll be matched to mentors based on your location and the area of expertise you need.

The mentoring from the Help to Grow: Management course is designed to support you in developing your Growth Action Plan.

Mentors provide one-to-one support and share knowledge, experience, useful contacts and good practice. They are there to be your critical friend, not make judgements. You’ll be able to tell them your thoughts and discuss your business problems. Mentors will treat anything you share with them as confidential.

We’ll recommend mentors to you based on the information you gave when you signed up and the mentors’ expertise, availability and location. You can then shortlist and send requests to the mentor you want to work with. The mentor can either accept your request and start working with you, or decline and you can search again.

Your mentor will have a minimum of five years of recent experience leading a small or medium-sized business at a senior level, or equivalent experience working with business leaders on growth, productivity and innovation.

You’ll receive 10 hours of mentoring from a dedicated business mentor over a 12-week period. The time is flexible and you and your mentor can agree when and how you take it. You can book your sessions through the platform.

This is for you and the mentor to decide. You’ll be matched via the Enterprise Nation platform, through which you can arrange calls or to meet in person.

The mentoring programme is being delivered by a partnership of Newable, Enterprise Nation and the Association of Business Mentors (ABM). Enterprise Nation is responsible for recruiting mentors and matching them with small business owners.
