Business Support Programme

In my 20s I set up a community arts charity and over the next decade raised almost a £1million for projects across London and beyond. By 2010 however the charity became unsustainable, not least thanks to the 2008 crash. It was time for a new direction. I retrained as an accountant and in 2011 set up in practice, keen to bring my experience of running an enterprise to small business owners. We are now a team of 6 and working with small business owners to create the business they want is still at the heart of the practice, through our Improving the Numbers programme. I have therefore worked with literally hundreds of business owners from a wide variety of sectors on their journey to create a business that gives them what they want. It is a great privilege as I know from my own development as business owner the difference that mentoring and accountability makes to a business owner. The work of supporting a business owners spills into every aspect of business, so although my core skills are in finance and accounting, I have a good grounding in all business functions. Although every business is a new challenge, there are some core skills, mindsets and processes that apply to all businesses. Outside of work, I try to corral my children and find time to be creative.
