Since the UK’s transition out of the EU and the signing of the UK-EU Trade & Cooperation Agreement, rules of origin have become an important consideration in trade with the bloc. In order to claim zero duty, goods must be clearly UK origin. There are complex rules in the agreement as to what constitutes UK origin, and the evidence exporters are required to hold.
Up until now, these rules have been applied by customs authorities with a ‘light touch’, but from next year businesses must hold the required evidence to support their claim for origin. This may be more complicated and time-consuming than it sounds.
Are you prepared? Without the evidence duty could become due on your goods and even shipments from 2021 could incur retrospective duty.
Join this Lunch and Learn webinar with Mike Wilson, who will dive deep into a futher understanding of the requirements and know what you need to do to prove the origin of your products.
Key takeaways for this session:
- A summary of the rules of origin in the UK-EU Trade & Cooperation Agreement.
- How to determine the true origin of your products and to claim zero duty.
- What evidence you are required to hold to support your origin claim and the implications of getting it wrong.
Please send any questions you'd like Mike to answer during the webinar to events@enterprisenation.com.
