This short course is designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners develop the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for a successful business startup.
With more than 30% of businesses failing within the first two years, understanding the key processes and requirements for starting and running a business is crucial. This course provides practical insights into creating a business plan, marketing strategies, legal and financial considerations and more, giving you the tools to increase your chances of success.
This course is open to anyone looking to start their own business or seeking to refine and develop an existing business plan. Basic English and maths skills are required to ensure participants can engage fully with the course content. Whether you're at the beginning of your business journey or want to take your plans to the next level, this course will provide valuable support and guidance.
Upon completion, learners may choose to progress by enrolling in the Level 2 Creating a Business Startup distance learning course or other training programmes such as IT and work skills courses offered by the college.
The course is delivered in an IT room at the college, with approximately 8-12 learners per class. Classes are interactive and learners are encouraged to participate in group activities. There are no formal assessments.
