Rise of the British maker movement: Download our guide

The British maker movement has seen dramatic growth since 2010, but is in desperate need of more support if it is to continue to rise, a new report from Enterprise Nation has found.
The Makers and Shakers study, conducted in conjunction with global software provider Microsoft, revealed that while the number of maker spaces has boomed from nine to 97 in five years, 90% of entrepreneurs are still working from home and are being stifled by isolation.
We recommend little-used corporate property, such as those owned by banks, be thrown open to allow access to critical space for crafters, inventors, coders and creatives to collaborate and work from, kitted out with high tech 3D printers, business advisers and purposeful resources.
We're also calling for more willingness from leading high street retailers to back British-made craft products in a meaningful way via 'Made in Britain' craft aisles.
