Beyond Money Education and Training CIC

Maureen O’Callaghan is a research-led speaker, educator, and social entrepreneur specialising in ethical leadership, sustainable business, and mindful decision-making. She is the founder of Beyond Money Education and Training CIC, an organisation dedicated to transforming business education so it is fit for the social, environmental, and human challenges of the 21st century. Drawing on her PhD research in entrepreneurship, Maureen works with business owners, coaches, advisers, trainers, and educators to explore how businesses can operate responsibly while remaining viable and resilient. Her work challenges narrow, profit-only models of success and supports leaders to recognise their moral responsibility to prevent harm, act with integrity, and contribute positively to society and the planet. Maureen’s approach combines academic depth and real-world experience. As an entrepreneur herself, she has founded and led multiple businesses, including social enterprises. Earlier in her career, she worked with organisations such as Save the Children and the British Red Cross, applying entrepreneurial thinking to address unmet needs at local, national, and international levels. These experiences continue to shape her practical, grounded approach to leadership and business education. A qualified mindfulness practitioner with an MSc in Mindfulness-Based Approaches, Maureen integrates evidence-based mindfulness into her work with leaders, not as a wellbeing add-on, but as a support for ethical discernment, self-awareness, and better decision-making. Her talks and training help leaders navigate complexity, pressure, and uncertainty without losing sight of their values or their responsibility to others. Through Beyond Money Education and Training CIC, Maureen delivers talks, workshops, and education programmes across higher education, further education, community, and business settings. She is particularly known for her work with current and aspiring entrepreneurs, social enterprises, and those supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Alongside her commercial work, she is committed to widening access to business education, providing subsidised training to disadvantaged communities, women, young people, and the long-term unemployed. Maureen believes that sustainable and ethical business is not an idealistic aspiration, but a practical necessity. Her work invites leaders to rethink what success looks like, to lead with courage and kindness, and to recognise that business, when guided by strong values and informed by evidence, can be a powerful force for good. Beyond Money Education and Training CIC: Rethinking business, beyond profit alone.
