Power your sustainability with a £5,000 grant

Enterprise Nation and EDF Small Business, supported by Square, are giving out £25,000 in funding to support five small businesses ready to invest in a greener future.

Each successful applicant will receive a £5,000 grant. We're also offering five free dedicated workplace electric vehicle (EV) chargers, including installation, supplied via Pod – you can apply for the grant, the EV charger or both.

Who is the support for?

Five small businesses in the UK will each receive £5,000 to invest in sustainability measures.

They might include:

  • energy efficiency improvements, or upgrades to more efficient equipment

  • renewable energy installations (solar panels, battery storage for example)

  • an electric vehicle (EV) charger and management software

Am I eligible?

About your business

 

You must:

  • be a UK-based small business with fewer than 50 employees

  • have been trading for at least 12 months

  • have a physical business premises (that you own or rent)

  • have a Companies House registration number or be registered as self-employed with proof of UTR

  • have a UK business bank account

To be eligible, your business must not:

  • be undergoing insolvency, examinership, receivership or any related process

About you

 

You must:

  • be the owner of the business (or have the owner's approval to apply)

  • not be an employee of EDF or Enterprise Nation, and have no immediate family or household members who are

 If you're successful, you must:

  • be able to clearly outline how you'll use the grant and/or charger to make your business more sustainable

  • be willing to share your story if requested

Additional eligibility for the EV chargers

  • You must have dedicated offstreet parking for employees or visitors available (not a residential address) and permission from your landlord if in a rented premises.

  • Standard installation requires a level of electrical readiness:

    • the existing supply meets regulations, has spare capacity and needs no infrastructure upgrades

    • fixing of a wall-mounted charger within 30 metres of the supply, with straightforward cable routing and no groundworks

    • A Site Management Service subscription is required at £9 per charger per month to access management controls.

Note: The cash grant is taxable, and winners are responsible for covering the tax liability.
