Student Start-Up Of The Year: Terms And Conditions

  • There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition. 
  • The prize is:
  1. Profile on the Enterprise Nation blog and social media
  2. Free office space for 12 months with The Office Group

  • To take part in the Competition, you must be a resident in Great Britain and either be enrolled in some form of at least part-time education or left education in the previous 24 months as of 25 Feb 2018. Entrants must have an idea for business that is not yet trading or be running a business that has been trading for no more than 24 months. For the purposes of this promotion Great Britain shall be England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. 
  • To enter the Competition, Entrants must, in 250 words or less, add a summary of their business idea, together with the reasons they feel they should win via the following link: . 
  • Entrants will have between 00:00:00 on 13 January 2018 and 23:59:59 on 25 February 2018 to submit their ideas Submissions made after 11:59:59pm on 25 February 2018 shall not be entered into the competition. 
  • 10 entries will be shortlisted by Enterprise Nation and will be informed via email on 26 February 2018. The shortlisted entries will also be announced via Enterprise Nation's social media channels. 
  • Shortlisted Entrants must be available to travel to London on the afternoon of 9 March 2018 to pitch their idea to a panel of judges, following which Entrants will be filmed doing a one minute elevator pitch about their business idea [hereby referred to as the 'Film']. This Film will be shared with Entrants via email for the purposes of self-promotion of their idea to gain public votes. 
  • Members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite business idea at, where the top 5 shortlisted Films will be available to view. 
  • The 5 Films will be streamed via and social media channels. The winner will be the business idea Entrant which has received the most votes as of 11:59:59 on 25 March 2018 when voting closes. 
  • The votes will be counted and the winner will be announced on 26 March 2018 and via email to shortlisted Entrants. 
  • If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within seven days of notification, Enterprise Nation reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and award the prize to the entrant with the second most number of votes. 
  • Where the prize is won by a person younger than 18, we reserve the right to award the prize to the prize winner's parent or legal guardian on behalf of the prize winner.
  • Enterprise Nation’s selection of the winner is final and binding in all matters. 
  • The winner agrees to the use of their name, business idea and image in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other Entrants will be used as per the privacy policies of Enterprise Nation. For more information please click here.
  • By entering the competition, Entrants agree to receiving Enterprise Nation newsletters to their email address and can unsubscribe from these at any time via the link found on individual newsletters. 
  • All submissions will be screened by Enterprise Nation and any business ideas that may cause harm to others or offence will not be accepted. Such submissions will be disqualified from the competition and posts may be deleted by Enterprise Nation. Enterprise Nation cannot take responsibility for entries not received for whatever reason. 
  • Enterprise Nation reserves the right to add or remove items from the prize list at any time. 
  • Enterprise Nation reserves the right to vary or amend these terms at any time and to withdraw the competition at any time without liability. You should check this page regularly for any changes, which will apply from the date that they are uploaded.
  • This Competition is not open to employees (or their immediate family members) of Enterprise Nation or its associated brands/companies.
