Should I choose small business or adviser membership?

Small business membership is perfect for people looking for connections, support to solve business problems and offers for their business. You will be able to access a huge searchable library of resources, member exclusive opportunities to connect with buyers, journalists, funders and advisers and tools to help you grow your business successfully.

Adviser membership is focussed on helping people who provide support services for small businesses to raise their profile. Many of our adviser members are also small businesses themselves but are looking to use their membership to share their expertise and connect with potential clients as well as gaining business support themselves.

How do I join Enterprise Nation?

  1. Navigate to the join page
  2. Fill in all the required information and payment details
  3. Once you have joined you will be taken to your dashboard
  4. Check your inbox to verify you email
  5. Navigate to the settings area to finish filling out your profile
 
 
 
 
 
 

Sign in

Logging in with alternative details

Once you have created your Enterprise Nation account you can link it to another any of the following accounts you may already have: Facebook, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn or Office 365. This means that you can log in with these details rather than needing to remember another password.

To set this up:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down to security and click on manage external access
  3. Click connect next to the account you would like to link and follow the prompts
 
 
 
 
 
 

Events

Finding and booking an event

You can search for an event using keywords in the search box or the search 'refiners' down the left-hand side. For example, if you are looking for an event focused on social media in London you could:

  1. Type 'social media' into the search box
  2. Scroll down and click on London under regions
  3. Click on the event you’re interested in to find out more
  4. Click get tickets and go through to Eventbrite to book your place at the event
  5. If you're a member, please use the same email address you use for your Enterprise Nation account when you book your ticket, so we can add it to your calendar

Claiming your member discount

If you're logged into your account, your member discount will be automatically applied to all events.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Campaigns

Campaigns are projects we run around a specific topic which is key to small and micro businesses to ensure they are given a strong campaigning voice. Campaigns usually comprise of a mixture of events, content and opportunities.

Blog posts

Finding a blog post

You can search for a blog post using keywords in the search box or the search 'refiners' down the left-hand side. For example, if you are looking for a blog post focused on social media you could:

People

Public people search

Public users can view a limited amount of profiles. To connect, interact with, engage on services with or view content by a member you must become an Enterprise Nation member.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Content *

Members can access a variety of different types of content on a wide range of business topics.

Searching for content

You can search for content using keywords in the search box or the search 'refiners' down the left-hand side. For example, if you are looking for in depth content focussed on social media you could:

  1. Type 'social media' into the search box
  2. Click on webinar under content type
  3. Click on the webinar which interests you to watch

Viewing a particular type of content

You can choose to view only a particular type of content by using the content refiners on the left hand side of the content page. This is useful if, for example, you are looking for some more in depth content you might choose to only view webinars or eBooks.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Dashboard *

Offers

Enterprise Nation has partnered with a number of big brands to bring you discounts on business essentials. To view or claim these offers use the view offers button on your dashboard.

Your service engagements

The service engagements area of the dashboard allows you to see a summary and make changes to your current service engagements. For more details about managing service engagements head to the services section of the guide.

Your diary

Your diary will be automatically populated with Enterprise Nation events you’re attending assuming you book with the same email address you use for your account. You will also see any meetings or service engagements appear here.

Your content

Adviser members can propose content for inclusion in the blog and content areas of the site. This can help build their exposure and reassure small businesses of the adviser’s credibility. To propose content click the 'add content' button, choose 'webinar' or 'blog post' and follow the instructions.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Discovery Tool *

The discovery tool is designed to give you suggestions on where you should be focusing your efforts as a business owner based on how you are currently doing in a number of key areas.

Run a discovery tool

  1. Navigate to your dashboard
  2. Click the run discovery tool button
  3. Choose the discovery tool you wish to use
  4. Answer all of the questions so we can access your progress in each of the areas
  5. Read the recommendation and view the content and offers suggested
  6. Save your results to access the recommendations at a later date

View past results from a discovery tool

  1. Navigate to your dashboard
  2. Click the run discovery tool button
  3. Find the previous discovery run you’re interested in from the list
  4. Click the arrow and view details to see the recommendations page
 
 
 
 
 
 

Services *

Definitions

  • Standard Service: this is the main type of service added to an adviser’s profile. It includes any piece of work that the adviser offers.
  • Custom Service: a service requested by the small business if the adviser’s standard services don’t suit their needs.
  • F2F Meeting: a face to face meeting between the adviser and business.
  • Taster session: a no obligation advice session from the adviser. This usually lasts around 30 minutes and takes place over the phone or via video conferencing (eg. Skype).

Creating a standard service

Adviser members can create services which are added to their profile to give other small businesses an idea of what they offer. To create a service:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down and click on services
  3. Click add a standard service
  4. Fill in all the required details, you will only be able to choose from categories your have specified in the categories and specialisms area of your profile
  5. Click submit and the service will be added to your profile

Creating a F2F Meeting

Adviser members can create F2F Meeting slots which will appear on their profile under services to allow them to offer reviews and advice which happen in person. To create a F2F meeting:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down and click on services
  3. Click add a F2F Meeting
  4. Fill in all the required details, you will only be able to choose from categories you have specified in the categories and specialisms area of your profile
  5. The start date and time will limit when small businesses can request to see you
  6. Click submit and the F2F Meeting will be added to your profile

Creating a taster session

Taster sessions are added to all adviser profiles by default

Editing or deleting a standard service of F2F meeting

You can edit or delete any services you have added to your profile.

  1. Click the arrow next to the service you want to change
  2. Choose either edit or delete
  3. Any changes you make will be updated on your profile immediately

Requesting a custom service

If you feel like an adviser does not have exactly what you’re after, you can request a custom service.

  1. Click on request a custom service on the adviser’s profile
  2. Provide as much detail as possible about the service you’re looking for
  3. The adviser will be in touch through your dashboard if they feel they’re able to help or if they need more information
  4. Please allow around 72 hours for the adviser to respond.

Requesting a taster session

You can request a taster session with any adviser on the system.

  1. Click on request a taster session on the adviser’s profile
  2. Provide as much detail as possible about the type of advice you’re looking for
  3. The adviser will be in touch through your dashboard if they feel they’re able to help, you will receive a notification
  4. Please allow around 72 hours for the adviser to respond

Engaging on an adviser’s service

You will find details about the services an adviser offers on their profile page. If you’re interested in a service click the enquire button and tell the adviser a bit about what you’re looking for. If they’re able to help they will accept the enquiry and you can talk more about how you will take the service forward.

Managing your service engagements

You can view an overview of your service engagements in your dashboard so it’s always easy to see any changes at glance when you log in however to make the most the features we have to help you manage your services:

  1. Navigate to the services area
  2. On the engagement you wish to manage click the arrow and view engagement details
  3. From here you can send the requester a message and discuss exactly what they need or if they have provided enough information accept the request
  4. Send messages back and forth so letting requester know what information you need and then when you’re ready mark the engagement in progress whilst you complete the work
  5. Every time you change the status or send messages we will store it in a neat timeline in your service area
  6. At any time whilst the work is in progress or when it is completed you can complete a review on the requester (letting other advisers know how they were to work with) or prompt them to review you
  7. Once they are happy that you have provided the work specified the requester can mark the engagement completed
 
 
 
 
 
 

Messages *

You can send private messages with any other member in the system you are connected with.

Sending a message

  1. Navigate to messages
  2. Click create new message
  3. Use the magnifying glass on the two field to pick a member you’re connected with to message
  4. Write you message and send

Managing your messages

You can manage your messages though the system in the same way you would any other email. View sent and received messages, reply and delete all though the messages area.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Connections *

To send a message to another member, whether adviser or small business, you must be connected.

Connecting with another member

  1. On the member’s profile click the connect button under their name
  2. A request will be sent to the member who must accept this request before you’re connected
  3. Once you’re connected the member will appear in the connections panel in your dashboard

Disconnecting with another member

If you no longer wish to be connected with another member you can disconnect at any time. This means this member will no longer be able to message you.

  1. Navigate to your dashboard
  2. Under the connections panel find the member you wish to disconnect from
  3. Click the arrow and choose the disconnect option
 
 
 
 
 
 

Favourites *

You can favourite people, content or events so you can keep track of what you’ve been viewing and easily access profiles or content you want to come back to.

Favouriting content

Once you have found content or an event you want to be able to easily access in future click the star button at the top of the content page.

Favouriting people

When you find a profile, you would like to come back to you can click the star button underneath the member’s name. People are not notified when you favourite them, so this is a good way of producing a shortlist of advisers.

Accessing favourited content or people

People and content you favourite are available via panels on your dashboard.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Personal Info & Profile *

Personal information

Your personal information helps us to know a bit more about you so we can bet tailor your membership. The only information which will appear on your profile is your name.

To update your personal information:

 

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Click on personal information
  3. Make any changes and click update

Profile Picture

You profile picture will be used as the main image on your profile.

To change your profile image:

 

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Click on profile picture
  3. Upload an image using the button on the right
  4. Use to tools to position the image how you want
  5. Click publish image

Personal bio

Your personal bio will appear on your profile page. This is a chance to tell people viewing your profile about your background and experience.

To edit your personal bio:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Click on personal bio
  3. Make any changes and click update
 
 
 
 
 
 

Business Info & Profile *

Business information

Your business information helps us to know a bit more about you so we can bet tailor your membership. The following information here will be displayed on your profile:

  • Business name
  • City/Town
  • No. of Employees
  • Year founded
  • Website
  • Business description

For your business description we encourage you to details a bit about your business, your ideals and the areas your cover.

Business logo

Your business logo will be used under the company information section on your profile.

To change your profile image:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Click on business logo
  3. Upload an image using the button on the right
  4. Use to tools to position the image how you want
  5. Click publish image

Social media profiles

Your social media profiles will be visible on your profile.

To add your social media profiles:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Click social media profiles
  3. Add the appropriate links and click update

Professional indemnity

We ask adviser members to upload proof of their professional indemnity insurance to give small businesses increased trust in engaging with advisers.

To add your professional indemnity:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Click on professional indemnity
  3. Click create new proof of professional indemnity
  4. Input the details of your insurance policy and click next
  5. Use the add document button to upload a copy of your certificate and click submit
  6. A member of the Enterprise Nation team will validate your proof
 
 
 
 
 
 

Categorisation *

Adding a category

Categories tell people which areas you can give advice on. Which categories you pick will influence the specialism you have available. We highly recommend you only pick categories you are an expert in.

To add a category:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down and choose the option categories and specialisms
  3. Click add category
  4. Choose the relevant options then click add

Removing a category

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down and choose the option categories and specialisms
  3. Next to the category you wish to remove click the arrow and select remove

Adding a specialism

Specialisms give small businesses a more precise idea of your area of expertise, you will only be able to add specialisms related to your chosen category.

To add a specialism:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down and choose the option categories and specialisms
  3. Click add specialism
  4. Choose the relevant options then click add

Removing a specialism

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down and choose the option categories and specialisms
  3. Next to the specialism you wish to remove click the arrow and select remove
 
 
 
 
 
 

Security *

Changing your password

To change your password:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down to security and click on set password
  3. Input your old password and the new password you would like to use. Your password much be a minimum of eight characters and include one number and one uppercase letter.

Changing your email

To change your email:

  1. Navigate to settings
  2. Scroll down to security and click on change email
  3. Input your email and click change and confirm
  4. You will be sent an email with a link which you need to click to confirm your email
 
 
 
 
 
 

Billing *

Updating or adding your card details

You can update your card details at anytime and you will not be charged until your subscription is due for renewal.

  1. Navigate to billing
  2. Enter your name, address and card details
  3. Click update billing details
  4. We will use these details the next time your payment is due

Your membership renewal date

To find out when your membership is due for renewal:

  1. Navigate to billing
  2. Scroll down to active plan
  3. Here you will find information about your current plan and when your next payment is due
  4. We will automatically renew your subscription using the details you provided unless you cancel your membership

Switching your membership type

To switch between small business and adviser membership:

  1. Navigate to billing
  2. Underneath your payment details you will see the different membership options
  3. You can switch between monthly and yearly payment using the slider
  4. Use the switch plan button to change your membership type
 
 
 
 
 
 

Cancellations *

Cancelling your membership

You can cancel your membership at any time.

  1. Navigate to the settings area
  2. Scroll down to account
  3. Click on cancel membership and confirm cancellation

Your membership will be cancelled at the end of the current subscription period.

Deleting your account

If you cancel your membership or we are unable to take your membership fee we will keep your account inactive in case you want to re-join in the future. If you would like us to permanently delete your account and all associated data you can do this at any time.

  1. Navigate to the settings area
  2. Scroll down to the account area
  3. Click on delete my account and confirm deletion

Your account and all associated data will be immediately deleted. If you wish to re-join in future you will need to create a new account.
