My idea is...

slanteddance company are a fully operational dance company living and working in the region of Norfolk, with a particular focus on making professional work for community and educational settings, working for, and with, young people.

The company has established itself over the last 3 years within the community setting and are now developing its children’s dance theatre company. The company strive to:
• To use the arts as an effective vehicle to develop emotional literacy; to develop the capacity to articulate emotions and to effect positive change for and within individuals and family groups.
• To tour a vibrant, energetic and thought provoking program of family dance theatre celebrating the diverse dance and performance styles within the Region
• Build accessibility of professional dance within rural and urban communities, allowing those with limited access to experience top quality arts productions.

This funding will support slanteddances up and coming community project for young people throughout summer 2012. The proposed project “Little monsters” aims to meet the findings of the slanteddances research since 2009. The company have found that there is a need and desire for a dedicated company who develop the standard of dance by undertaking professional performances, touring programs, and education and youth projects. The team consists of professionally trained dancers who are fully qualified and highly experienced in both performance and educational work.

The production steps into the busy school day of Tom who is pursued by an ever growing bag, of what appears to be monsters. As Tom progresses through his day he faces lots of events and hurdles to overcome, these lead to him to realise the importance of friendship and communication.

A trio of versatile and energetic dancers seamlessly fuse dance styles to create an explosion of street, hip hop, contemporary and lyrical dance, making it a winner for all ages. The project is aimed to make a positive and inspiring impact on its audiences and workshop participants: families, children and young people in community settings.

The company have already been booked for 13 performances/ workshops, there is a need we just need financial support to Launch the production.
