My idea is...

I make baby and children’s clothes from bamboo velour, jersey and 100% cotton (organic where possible) and then dye them by hand and print them with wooden stamping blocks to create completely unique and original fabrics. I would love to design my own stamping blocks to be able to sell my fabric to other people whilst also selling my own clothes. Plus as I work with angels (I am an Angel Therapy Practitioner) I had the idea to infuse the loving energies of the angels into the dyes I use so that when the clothes are worn, the person will feel the energies and it will help to calm/inspire/uplift them etc to achieve greater happiness, peace and wellbeing in their life. I am also planning on extending my clothes line to include maternity wear and adultwear too – so everyone can benefit from clothes that have infused with love and light :) I would use the money to design my own wooden stamping blocks (I already know of a company that can make them for me) plus to buy a serger so that I can create a more professional finish on the seams for my clothes. My motto for my clothes is ‘Unique Clothes for Unique Kids!’ and this way I can create even more unique fabrics as the stamps will be my own designs and not available anywhere else in the world. Plus I use tie dying and low emersion dying as my techniques, which produces very random and original effects each time – so you will never find two items completely identical, due to the nature of hand dying and printing.

      Thanks :-) to see my current range of tie dye go to http://www.dillasbaban.com and click on ‘Shop’ – there is a sample of the bamboo velour at the top of the tie dye category that gives an idea of how it turns out :-) once I get the funding I will be setting up a fabric club each month so people can receive samples of my fabric (at least 1m each month) to make their own products from and I’ll be running competitions etc each month too to win more fabric that’s custom made too :D all getting exciting – and I’ve found a wholesaler to get my cotton from by the bolt too :D x

      Thanks Claire :D I’m aiming to do wraparound tops that will fit all size bumps :-) I tend to be plus size and I found it difficult to get pretty maternity tops that I really liked as the sizes only went up to 18/20 (if I was lucky!) plus you can then wear them afterwards too without them looking obvious as a maternity top and they are great when breastfeeding :D I’ve got a design in mind that will make them fit easily when the bump is gone too :D xx
