Working wirelessly with your laptop

Most laptops purchased in the last few years will come with everything you need to get online even when you're away from home. Most can pick up wireless Internet access from receivers already built-in.
If you have a slightly older laptop you can buy a small adaptor, which you can plug into a spare USB port. Try a company called Belkin for affordable solutions.
With the right hardware, you can start to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots in public places, like coffee shops, libraries and even some public parks.
They usually cost you something - normally charged by the hour, for 24 hours or for a month. The three main providers are BT, The Cloud and T-Mobile.
