What's the big idea?
01/01/2008 send to a friend
Starting a home business begins with an idea. You may have had one in the back of your mind for some time. If not, then this feature will help you come up with your big idea!
Where do I start?
If you’re looking for an idea for your home business, then start by asking yourself these questions:
1. What do I enjoy doing?
What are your hobbies/skills/favourite pastime? Could any of these be turned into a business? If you can turn what you love doing into a way of earning a living, it will never really feel like you’re working!
2. Is there a gap in the market?
Have you been looking to buy something that you just can’t find? If so, others might be looking for it too which means there’s a gap in the market that you could nicely fill.
3. Can I do something better?
Seen someone provide a product or service and think you can do it better yourself? Then go ahead!
Most ideas for home businesses come from the answer to one of these three questions. Give it a try and come up with your big idea!

Comment: Hi Emma! I'd recommend syndicating your video across several platforms. Setting up a YouTube channel makes a great deal of sense, because of the site's popularity, but there are some limits, such as video length and, at the moment, quality. I don't know how you go about submitting video to Joost, because it works more like IPTV than a video sharing website. Brightcove too, is more a technology than a distributor, enabling you to embed video on your own website and manage ads, etc. I'd definitely recommend blip.tv, which seems to do everything - and for free. Check it out at http://blip.tv/.
