On the day we launch a new advertising banner for Staples on the site (look to the right ---> to view and click) we also upload news of the results of a poll that asked the question ‘what piece of office equipment would you be?’
A paper clip, jotter pad or …
Following the success of Staples’ sponsorship of Business on 4, (Channel 4’s fly-on-the-wall business programmes that includes Gerry’s Big Decision and Undercover Boss), offices across the UK have been buzzing with just one question: What piece of office equipment would you be?
So Staples commissioned a survey from GfK NOP to find out what the great British public would like to be - and concluded that everyone wants to be ... a laptop.
Even the over 65s rejected the traditional pen and paper for the laptop - with 49 per cent of the overall votes.
The humble bulldog clip, once familiar in offices for holding bundles of papers together, scored very low with just seven per cent of the votes, suggesting that as offices continue to reduce paper, the need for such sturdy clips is lower - and as a consequence they now have a lower status.
We’ll be asking Enterprise Nation members the very same question in the next edition of our e-news and offering a £50 Staples voucher too.
