"What did the big tomato say to the little tomato?"

13/01/2010 send to a friend

Ketchup is a simple and gorgeous web app for sharing meeting notes, ideal for home businesses that can't boast a secretary. It's free for a limited amount of time. San Sharma checked it out.

The first thing that strikes you about Ketchup is just how striking the design of the web app is. The second thing, for me at least, is how it demonstrates that businesses needn't worry about coming up with a product name that encapsulates everything that it does. (Otherwise, 'Ketchup' would be called 'meeting note taker, organiser and collaboration tool'.) But they're just side points.

Ketchup

Ketchup is for anyone who's been in a meeting and asked, "What did we decide about that?" According to its website, Ketchup means never hearing that question again.

And here's how it works:

  1. Add a meeting and its agenda.
  2. Print it out.
  3. Take some notes.
  4. Share it online with a secret url.

The early-adopter preview of Ketchup is free for a limited time only, so try it out on the link below:

One more thing...

In the release notes for Ketchup, the developers outline their philosophy in designing the app, which I thought might be interesting for any developers out there:

  1. "Do little, insanely well."
  2. Pay close attention to visual design and details.
  3. "Not Saving Changes" ... every detail is saved once it's created or changed.

p.s. "What did the big tomato say to the little tomato?" Punchline in the comments, please, if you know it!
