Newspapers have been buzzing this week with reasons as to why now is a great time to be starting a business from home. Here's the mid-week run-down.

  • Monday 11th August

Enterprise Nation distributes its own press release with the headline 'Be £30,000 better off with a home business' - the release pulls on research undertaken by property locators, Homefinder UK, and motoring organisation, The AA. In it, we reveal you can add an average of £28,000 to the value of your home by having a home office in it. Add to this, annual savings of at least £2,000 by avoiding the daily commute, and you soon see savings and added value that equates to an extra £30,000 in your pocket. Sound appealing?

  • Tuesday 12th August

A good number of the nationals cover research from O2 highlighting the number of businesses closing down shops and offices to head home. Justification for the move is to cut costs in times of economic belt-tightening.

  • Wednesday 13th August

The Financial Times prints a story 'train users feel ticket-price strain' (don't I just know it having spent £238 on a ticket today), starting with the line "Rail fares set to rise in January at their fastest rate since privatisation after the inflation figure used to calculate ticket price rises reached 5%"

This is 3 good reasons, in the space of 3 good days, to start and grow your business from home. - Emma Jones
