As we were celebrating our Home Business Award winners yesterday, Matthew Scott was experiencing his first day as a full-time, fully-fledged home business owner. He writes in to tell us what he got up to.

iGeneration – Day One

“Its 11.39 and I’ve been to Tesco and ASDA for home office supplies (including a drill!), I have emailed 59 times since 10am, one to a potential client, the rest replying to well wishers, and I’m on my fifth coffee…

I’m off to set up my new home office printer! – Probably have ink all over the carpet by noon…”

We’ll be following Matthew as he builds his new business, iGeneration from his home in rural Ireland. Let's hope that email to potential client comes good.

Comment: All the best Matthew with the new venture...you'll have a great time and you'll learn so much more than you ever thought you would. My biggest tip when setting out is this...never ever be afraid to ask for help - you'll be suprised how willing people are to lend you a hand if they just know what you need! ;-) The home working community is a great sector of the business community and I'm sure you'll do really well in your new business. Good luck and we'll all be keeping our fingers crossed for you!

Comment: Matthew,

All the very best. Living in Northern Ireland as well I will be interested to see how you get on.

I haven't been brave enough to make the leap into going solo yet!

Comment: Matthew,

Looks impressive, for Rural Ireland. I had expected to see Cows and Sheep but looks very industrial I assume your beside great River connections. Its great you can work out of anywhere. One of the advantages of great infrstructures.

Best of luck in your new ventures, I'll be keeping out a keen eye for how you get on
