That was quite a Home Enterprise Day

make me famous

21/11/2009 send to a friend

Friday 20th November was the UK’s first ever Home Enterprise Day so we marked the occasion with an event. There were top speakers, quality guests, and a few Award winners too.

The day after

The build-up seemed to last for weeks and yet the Day went so fast!

Judging by the emails coming in today, Home Enterprise Day was indeed a success. Thanks to our venue host, BT, the top line-up of speakers, our lovely guests, and supporters including HP and Staples.

The Day started well with Doug Richard setting the tone for all the information and inspiration that was set to follow.

We launched the 2009 Home Business Report which you can access by clicking on the link below and this year’s Home Business Award winners were announced.

They are … (drum roll please ..to remind you of how it went yesterday!) ..

  • 2009 Home Business of the Year: Janan Leo, CocoRose London
  • Home Business Couple of the Year: Gordon and Liz Maw, Maw Communications
  • 5 to 9 Home Business of the Year: Michelle Briffa, Paragon Virtual Assistance
  • Young Home Business Owner of the Year: John Randall, JV Bouncy Castle Hire
  • Home Office of the Year: Sharon and Gary Bassett, Enjoy-a-ball.com

All their entries will be featured on the site this weekend.

Congratulations to all you worthy winners!

It was a jam-packed day of business tips, motivational thoughts and rampant networking. To all of you who attended – thanks for coming and I hope you enjoyed it. To those of you who weren’t there – we hope to see you next year! – Emma Jones

Comment: Oh my wordy it was a brilliant, absolutely brilliant day.

Fabulous speakers, loads to absorb and think about, networking so animated and vibrant you did not want to go home, gorgeous food and.... Mr Motivator was just the ticket - and my favourite speaker by a mile. The guru from Chorley had me gripped, one minute laughing my socks off, the next with a tear in my eye.

As for Emma's gorgeous shoes, I had my eye on them, pretty spectacular.

The cupcakes were a legend too and I scoffed all 3 so hope the teens are not reading this.

Marks out of 10...20 And the value - just £50 for the whole day. Unbelievable.

The Horsham crowd were bowled over.

Well done Emma, HBB entrepreneur, you don't need to top it next year just repeat it please!!

We don't remember ever attending an event where we picked up so many useful tips and information. We shall be booking our places next year without fail.

Comment: Not sure I can add much more to the above as you have all captured it so beautifully.

It really was a fabulous day.

I felt completely inspired and motivated and even a shade wiser what with all the tips I picked up! The energy and support amongst each other was incredible and I felt the event really united us to continue flying the flag for Home Businesses!

Thank you Emma for such an amazing, invaluable day!

Comment: Just to re-iterate the above I suppose, but probably the most beneficial £50 I have spent! I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and found it very inspiring to keep moving forward with my home business venture.
Well worth it and excellent job Emma and EN team!

Comment: I had a fantastic day, I was invited as a guest of Helen Brennan of Access Self Storage and I had been a little bit nervous about coming along. But I can honestly say it was a fantastic way to spend a day. Possibly the most beneficial thing I took away with me from from the whole day is I am an entrepreneur, I'm not just "working from home" I'm not just a mum who earns a few pennies with my businesses. I AM an entrepreneur, it's something I should be saying loud and saying proud and I will from now on.

Highlight and most embarassing moment of the day was my Doll Artwork ending up on stage with Doug Richards... anyone have any pictures? Cos I would love to see them.

But again a bright side, usually she would have ended up back at the bottom of my bag like a dirty secrety... and she didn't! I carried her around all day very proud of my artwork.

So thanks to Helen for inviting me and Emma for a fantastic informative, eye opening day.

Comment: Just had to tell you what a great time Guy and I had at the Home Enterprise Day conference. Thank you so much, Emma!

The speakers were interesting yet entertaining and we are truly fired-up for getting Work Shacks launched in 2010!

Also, we finally got a chance to say "hello" to Alex Johnson of Shedworking. Great to meet you at last, Alex!

Right, I'm off to do ground-breaking stuff, now! Can't wait to see everyone at next year's conference!

Jane.

Comment: Thank you Emma for such a great event on Friday!

Not only did you have great speakers, but it was an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded small business owners.

Starting the event with Doug Richard was inspired! I came away with such a lot of hints and tips from him...and he was hilarious! Also, the 'Make Me Famous' panel were so helpful and entertaining with all their advice!

Look forward to next year's event!
