Swindon puts on a party

Arjun and Mary

11/11/2008 send to a friend

Mary Parsons and Arjun Thandi are throwing a party. A party, no less, for home business owners in and about Swindon. Read on for details of their events (there’s one tonight) and a little introduction to the organisers.

Meeting in the tax office

Arjun and Mary met in the Summer of ’08 in the tax office.  They were there for a business course and got chatting on how much they both wanted to attend events that were about more about meeting people than securing business deals.

After meeting up regularly to support each other and develop ideas, they have launched Biz Meet. This is what Mary has to say about the group:

“Biz Meet aims to support those who are new to business or who work at home.

The group fills a gap in the local business scene.  Although there are many networking events, we aim to make self employment more sociable by offering social events.  All events enable informal networking opportunities.

We launched in early October, and have had 95 enquiries.

The first event attracted a really diverse group, including those in complimentary therapy, IT, artists, and electrical sales. The session was very informal. Very few of our members knew each other previously so it was an interesting evening to find out about others."

Meeting tonight

The next Biz Meet event is tonight! Tuesday 11th November. It’s from 5-7pm at the café in Swindon's Central Library

This will be followed by a Christmas bash for any home business owner who doesn’t get a work Christmas Party!

If you’d like to attend tonight’s event, contact Mary on 01793 686449 or info@bizmeet.co.uk and for details of the Christmas event on Thursday 11th December
