Kinvara Rugge-Price is the 28 year old founder of digitalgalleries.co.uk that is to be re-launched next month as wizz-it.com. She’s an ambitious young lady who shares a home office with her twin sister and has a business model that you just can’t fault.

The future’s bright

Kinvara got in touch on the back of our call for Orange customers who wanted to be profiled in Exchange magazine. As I read her note, my eyes widened. She’s got a great business and great plans and she’s a lovely person to boot. This is what she had to say.

What is wizz-it.com?

My company is called wizz-it.com and it is due to launch in March. (We are currently trading under the name of digitalgalleries.co.uk and you can view information on this site)

Wizz-it.com is an online service that allows artists, creative professionals and start-ups to affordably create beautiful, professional looking websites that are easy to update. You can choose from a selection of flash and html templates that require no further customisation or expense to achieve impressive results. Wizz-it can also help you increase your traffic, sell online and accept credit card payments.

What’s the story behind wizz-it.com?

About six years ago I had just come out of a 3 year degree at Bristol University doing computer science and didn’t really have a clue what to do next so I followed the masses to London to try and launch my career. Three months later and I was still looking for jobs, the reason being that it was just at the start of the internet crash so everyone was getting rid of people.

To keep cash flowing I started building websites for my friends and as I was the only one capable of ‘whipping’ up a cheap and nice looking website, people kept asking me to build them!

So the time came when I decided that I no longer needed my day job (and quite frankly I loved the thought of being my own boss) so I took the plunge and started out as a freelance web designer.

My working life got a lot better and I continued to build websites for a couple of years but I didn’t make my millions and a big thing bugged me: the fact that clients were never quite happy.  They always wanted ‘one more thing’ and actually by the time you got paid, you had always put in double the amount of hours. After that came the updating of the site which you couldn’t really charge for since you were only adding a picture or inserting a word or two. That gave me the idea to offer cheap, nice looking websites that people could update themselves.

This is how wizz-it.com came to be built and since then I haven’t looked back.  This year I’ve doubled my targets and when I re-launch in March I’m hoping to go even bigger!

One to watch

I think Kinvara is most definitely one to watch. She’s created a ‘product’ that she can sell, rather than a time-consuming service that she can’t charge for. With the right marketing, I see this company attracting many happy customers. We’ll watch with interest! – Emma Jones
