Q&A with Golden Media

Golden Tesco

01/10/2009 send to a friend

Before starting in business together, husband and wife team, Chris and Jacky, were otherwise engaged in employment. Jacky was working as a secretary for a plastics mouldings company and Chris was working on the family farm. The two joined forces to launch Golden Media Productions and they've been helped along the way by the professional voice and service of Moneypenny.

Do you have different roles in the company?

We do muck in together to make the business work but Jacky’s main roles are running the office, duplication of CDs & DVDs and video production assistant. My role is mainly filming, editing, multimedia production and helping run the office. Our studio is based at home and we work out and about on location with film production jobs for various companies throughout the UK and occasionally abroad.

How did you hear about Moneypenny and how has the service helped?

Moneypenny targeted us by email in around 2004 and at that time we couldn’t see the need or benefits of their service (how wrong we were) we decided to use them for holiday cover in late 2005 and this proved to be such a success that we decided to continue with their services.Golden Superchef

Our team at Moneypenny are brilliant, they provide a friendly professional voice which is the front line of our business, they understand our customers and they understand how our business works. Moneypenny has benefited our business in several ways:

  • Being a home business can sometimes put new prospects off so having a professional front line telephone services makes our business look larger than it really is and this gives new prospects greater confidence in us.
  • When we are out filming on location and unable to take incoming calls we are confident that Moneypenny will handle our calls professionally and relay any messages to us by text.
  • They filter unwanted sales calls which saves us valuable time and allows us to do what we do best.

What has been your most memorable project to date?

The most memorable Job for me was our first big corporate job which was a promotional video for Yorkshire based oil distribution company ‘J. R. Rix & Sons Ltd’ back in the mid 1990s. If I'm being honest we were probably a little bit out of our depth at the time which taught us a lot and we learned very quickly. The project was filmed over several weeks and it took us all over Yorkshire and up to Scotland. Rix were delighted with the finished video and we entered it into the Institute of Videography’s (www.iov.co.uk) national awards - to my amazement we won the category of ‘Best Corporate Video’ beating off stiff competition from other UK video producers. We still do video projects for Rix on a pretty regular basis.

What are your plans for the future?

We have big plans for 2010 which involve keeping the business moving forward through focused advertising coupled with major improvements in filming and editing facilities; namely High definition video production. It's going to be a good year!
