Managing your work and personal life on Facebook
24/04/2008 send to a friend
With over 69 million active users, Facebook is undoubtedly the world's largest social network. So, for maximum exposure for your home business, it would make sense to get yourself on there. But how can you keep your work and your personal information separate?
Using 'Friends Lists'
Part of starting and growing a home business is accepting that the boundaries between your work and your personal life may sometimes blur. Saying that, on a social networking site like Facebook, you might not want your clients or colleagues to see everything about yourself.
Facebook allows you to create Friends Lists so that you can decide what your personal friends and your work friends can find out about you via the social network. To create a Friend List, click Friends at the top of any Facebook page. From the following page, click "Make a new list" on the right. After typing in the title of your list, you can add friends to your list by typing your friend’s name into the "Add to List" field. You can also click "Select Multiple Friends" to the right of the field, which will allow you to select many friends from your entire list. After making your selections, click "Save List" to store your changes.
