Homeworking 2.0: RSS

25/03/2008 send to a friend
Resident geek and Technology editor, San Sharma, is out to 'feed the world', on a Geldofesque mission to convert Enterprise Nation readers into RSS users.
Inspired again by the good work of blogger, Grant Griffiths, and video producers, Common Craft, whose 'Twitter in Plain English' video I posted last time 'round, I'm back again with some byte-sized advice - this time on RSS.
What is RSS?
You may have seen its button on the web; on our own website, no less; you may have even heard me mention it, perhaps taking for granted its mystery to some people.
So, what is RSS?
Our RSS feed
As Grant Griffiths puts it in his blog, "a picture is worth a thousands words. And this video even more." Like Grant, I'm going to post the "plain English" explanation from Common Craft, but not before posting a link to Enterprise Nation's RSS feed, in case you haven't already subscribed.
Doing so will make so much more sense once you've watched this video! So, without further ado

Of course we'd like more of you to subscribe to our RSS feed! Doing so means you don't miss out on great content and we get to see you back on our website, which is great! But there are other reasons why you should use RSS too.
- Personally, it helps me feel more connected, when I'm working from home.
- If you're an expert in your field, RSS can help you stay abreast of the latest news and ahead of the competition.
- And while it's nice sometimes to surf the web, during a work break or as a reward, wouldn't it be great to get all the headlines from your favourite websites and blogs in one place?
You can find out more about RSS, about how to subscribe to feeds and the different kinds of software to help you do so on the link below. And don't forget to subscribe to our RSS feed! – San Sharma
